GEmini™ is a physically small, environmentally hardened, and highly scalable Ethernet Remote DSLAM that delivers non-blocking ADSL2+ bandwidth, enabling applications such as Triple Play and IPTV. It is the first of a new class of product that is designed for the marriage of fiber and copper anywhere in the access network.
The GEmini™ platform provides full-rate ADSL2+ to the entire serving area and converts existing cross-connect cabinets into broadband access nodes. With 24-port incremental scalability, each subscriber access module can provide up to 24 Mbps of dedicated service to each of 24 consumers.
The GEmini™ platform is an Ethernet-based, environmentally hardened, passively cooled module purpose-built for deployment in the outside plant. It provides a broadband overlay that does not interfere with the existing POTS infrastructure. The platform does not require an environmentally hardened cabinet, concrete pad, or power trenching, as GEmini™ can be line powered from the central office.
GEmini™ can also be deployed in a subtended-mux architecture to maximize utilization of backhaul links. The subtended mux capability enables the GEmini™ Ethernet Remote DSLAMs to support the over-subscription of services.
The GEmini™ platform can be supported by optional line powering and the OPE POTS Splitter.
